Her career in journalism began with Myrtle Beach South Carolina as a news reporter and anchor with WPDE-TV. She later worked as morning news anchor and crime reporter for WCBD-TV. O'Dell's reports in Charleston regarding the police's tolerance regarding DUI cases, prompted the State Law Enforcement Division to investigate. This led to states authorities enforcing more rigorous regulations in these cases. Ms. O'Dell was awarded the Best Report of the Media Award South Carolina by the Associated Press. O'Dell was then employed by NBC's Miami-based station WTVJ-TV as an investigative journalist prior to joining Access Hollywood in the role of weekend co-anchor. Her current position as host for Access Hollywood is complemented by her work on NBC News Today, Dateline NBC and NBC News. She's covered events like The Oscars The Emmys The Grammys The Golden Globe Awards in addition to hosting the Pre ShowArrivals Programs during The Emmys. She also hosted Miss USA's pageant, as in addition to the Miss Universe Pageant.
