Schlapp did not change her focus, and worked closely in conjunction with White House policy and political teams. The focus of her work has been on areas like the safety of schools, opioids, and infrastructure, as well as trade. Her interactions with journalists aren't very much in her present role. In March, she received a flurry of interest, after it was it was reported that she would be a potential candidate to take over Hope Hicks's post as director of communication. There has been a lot of fighting. Schlapp has sided with Tony Sayegh. He was an aspirant. They started fighting in media. Schlapp said to The Washington Examiner that she spoke to Sayegh to discuss a recent negative article on him.
